To mark the 12th anniversary of the death of Pope John Paul II a special event will take place in the Polish House, on Saturday, 1st April, at 5 pm.
An afternoon with the presentation of some historical material and video clips (about 60 minutes), followed by a discussion. The programme will focus largely on the late Pope John Paul II’s visit to Poland, in June 1999. It was the longest pilgrimage that he had made to a single country; it lasted 13 days, over which the Pope visited 20 localities. The occasion was charged with memorable episodes, historically significant (like his visit and address to the Polish Parliament) as well as emotional and touching (e.g. a meeting with the people of his native town, Wadowice). The event will be bilingual. Tea/coffee will be served. Admission is free and all are welcome.
