Soo-Jung Ann
Soo-Jung was born in Seoul in 1987, and began piano at the age of 6 at Yewon Art School and the preparatory school of the Korean National University of Arts. She studied with Professor Choong-Mo Kang and obtained a Bachelor Degree of Music at the Korean National University of Arts in February 2007. Since then, she has been a student of Professor John O’Conor and Thérèse Fahy at the Royal Irish Academy of Music. In 2009, she received her degree for Master of Music in Performance, and now she is taking a Doctorate in Music Performance. She has also been taking a postgraduate course in Mozarteum since October in 2012, with Professor Pavel Gililov.
Soo-Jung Ann has had great success at International Piano Competitions. She got the the 6th prize of the Hamamatsu International Piano Competition in 2009, the 3rd prize of the AXA Dublin International Piano Competition in 2009, the 4th prize of the Hong Kong International Piano Competition in 2011, where in the final she performed the Rachmaninoff 3rd piano concerto conducted by Vladimir Ashkenazy. And then she was awarded the 1st prize with a Gold Medal at the 58th International Music Competition Maria Canals of Barcelona in 2012.
Soo-Jung Ann has performed widely throughout her native country Korea in addition to Ireland, France, Japan, Malaysia, Macedonia, Poland and Russia, and she has performed as concerto soloist with Kracow Philharmonic Orchestra, Macedonia Philharmonic Orchestra, Wieniawski Philharmonic Orchestra, Rzeszow Philharmonic Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, and Tokyo Universal Philharmonic Orchestra.
