Story_tellingStory telling event combined with the art workshop.

Age: anyone who is 7 years old plus (meaning if you want to participate and you are an adult or you want to join your children – why not?!).

Irish story telling will be followed by an art workshop in which everyone will get a chance to create their own interpretation of the story characters. We will use mixed media i.e. drawing, painting, recyclable materials.

Artists that will lead the event:

Carmen Merina is a Spanish artist who has been living in Dublin since 2001.She divides her time between working in a crèche and creating things from recyclable materials. She also teaches children how to reuse materials through art workshops. In November, 2014, she held an exhibition at Arthur’s Pub and furthermore she has collaborated in some more with other artists, both in Spain and here in Dublin. She is part of The Dublin Yarnspinners, a storytelling association that meets once a month at The Teachers’ Club in Parnell Square. She has been storytelling in front of adult and young audiences since 2014.

Paul Rooney is a Playwright and actor living and working in Dublin. He has gained a Higher Diploma in Drama Studies in University College Dublin. He has too participated in a playwrighting course with Fishamble: The New Play Company and furthermore was accepted onto the Collaborations festival in 2015. In the last year Paul had also written, directed and performed “Trading Differences” as a monologue in Arthur’s pub as part of a collaboration with Storygate. The event was called “The story of Being Different, An Evening of Storytelling, Music and Drama”. He is a volunteer with Fightingwords for the last three years and has adapted a script for Storytelling called “Hadas y Duendes de Castilla-la-Mancha, Spain.
