Professor Pawel Soroka is a Polish poet, journalist and political
\nscientist who also acts as a social and economic animateur. He was born on 3 September 1953 in Gniezko, historically known as the first capital city
\nof Poland.<\/p>\n

Soroka\u2019s poetic oeuvre is very rich, including volumes of verse: Cleansing
\n(1979), Between Capitals (1992), Red and White Pier (1999), Liberating
\nImagination: New and Selected Poems (2010); and two poetry collections:
\nSelf-Distraction (1976) and 17 Erotic Poems (2005). His poems have also
\nbeen published in several magazines, almanacs and anthologies, including
\nStudent Groups and Poetic Clubs (Warsaw 1979), Poetic Debuts (Warsaw
\n1980), Real Romantics 1976-80 (Warsaw 1981), The Shape of Love (Szczecin
\n1944), The Book of Poets \u2013 The Books of Friends (Szczecin 1998), Maturing
\nin Love (Radom 2000) and Life with Inspiration (Warsaw 2006).
\nSoroka graduated from the University of Warsaw in 1976 where he majored in
\nPolitical Science with a specialisation in International Relations. In
\n1985, he graduated with a PhD in Journalism and Political Science. His
\nthesis, Theory of Decision Making in American International Relations, was
\npublished two years later. On 23 April 2008, the Council of Journalism and
\nPolitical Science at the University of Warsaw awarded Soroka with the
\ntitle of Associate Professor in the Humanities with a specialisation in
\nPolitical Science, after the publication in 2006 of The Strategy on
\nPoland\u2019s External Safety: Formulation Process.
\nSoroka is the author of numerous scientific articles. Between 2003-2005,
\nhe coordinated the work of the \u2018For a Better Poland\u2019 Organisation that
\ncompiled a report on Poland and suggested possible improvements. The
\ndocument was published in 2005 (accessible on-line from
www.plp.info.pl<\/a>).
\nHe also serves as a Professor at both the Warsaw Management School
\n(graduate and postgraduate Schools) (
www.wsz-sw.edu.pl<\/a>) and the School of
\nEconomics and Law (WSEiP) in Kielce.<\/p>\n

Soroka is a member of the Association of Journalists of the Republic of
\nPoland. He is the main editor of the sociocultural \u2018With One\u2019s Own Voice\u2019
\nmagazine (
www.wlasnymglosem.pl<\/a>) and the author of more than 250 articles
\nwhich have appeared in various magazines in the field of socioeconomics
\nand culture. Soroko is a member of the Honorary Board of the bimonthly
\nCitizen magazine (
www.obywatel.org.pl)and<\/a> is on the Editorial Committee of
\nthe quarterly Defensive Knowledge magazine. He also chairs the National
\nBoard of the Workers\u2019 Association of Culture Creators whose offices are
\nlocated across the whole country (
www.rstk.bmino.pl<\/a>). Between 1986 and
\n1990, Soroka was on the National Cultural Board. In 1993, he co-founded
\nand currently administers the Eugeniusz Kwiatkowski Polish Industrial
\nLobby, an independent social organisation which advises on the interests
\nof strategic Polish industry sectors (
www.plp.info.pl<\/a>) Soroka is a member
\nof both the Board of the Defence Knowledge Society (TWO) and the National
\nAviation Council (KRL). He is also the vice-president of the Warsaw
\nScientific Society for Organisation and Management (TNOik).
\nProfessor Soroka was awarded the status of \u201coppressed person\u201d by the
\nInstitute of National Remembrance (IPN) on 14 September 2005 (certificate
