Lecture on Casmir and Constance Markievicz

Was Countess Markievicz really a Countess?
Was Casimir Markievicz a Count?

Seamus Martin, author and retired International Editor Correspondent for the Irish Times to the Soviet Union and its successors, will give a talk on the colourful background of Casmir Markievicz.
The Gore-Booth family were thrown into confusion when Constance announced her intention to marry an impoverished Polish count. They launched an investigation across Europe involving diplomats, the foreign services of two empires and the Tsarist secret police.
Seamus Martin has researched the story in Russian archives and will reveal all at the Irish Polish Society, 20 Fitzwilliam Place, Dublin 2 on Wednesday, July 13th at 7.30pm. All are welcome.

Seamus will be interviewed on RTE Radio One’s Today with Pat Kenny on Tuesday, July 12th.
