Boleslaw Prus day. – Short introductory talk and screening of the film “The Pharaon”

Year 2012 marks the centenary of death of the outstanding Polish writer, Boleslaw Prus (the pen name of Aleksander Glowacki; he died on 19th May 1912).
His works represent a realist novel of the 19th century (similar to French novelists like Balzac, Flaubert, even Zola).
Sunday, 20th May, 5:30 pm – a short introductory talk and screening of the film The Pharaon, 1965 adaptation of Boleslaw Prus’ historical novel.
Pharaon directed by the famous Polish film-maker Jerzy Kawalerowicz (1922-2007).
The film was nominated in 1966 for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
