This time she will play Barcarolle op.60 and Sonata op.58
Soo Jung Ann, born in Seul (South Korea) started to play piano at the age of six. In 2007 she graduated from the Korean National University of Arts. She continued her postgraduate studies in Dublin, at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, under Prof John O’Conor.
Soo Jung Ann has won several international prizes. In 2000 (at the age of 13) she won the 5th Prize at the International Chopin Competition for Young Pianists in Moscow. In 2001 she was Gold Prize Winner at International Chopin Competition in Asia. She was the 3rd Prize Winner at the AXA Dublin International Piano Competition in 2009 . Very recently she participated in the Summer Music Course at Mozarteum, Salzburg, where she was a winner of 1st prize of Chopin competition held for participants of the Course.
She will now compete in the 16th International Chopin Piano Competition which starts in Warsaw on 1st October.
The performance will be followed by showing some video clips/slides related to ‘Mr. Frederic Chopin – The Man’. The idea is to show Chopin in a more ‘human’ light; What kind of man was he? His complex personality, his love for fashionable salons, his ‘dandy’ way of dressing and care for personal appearance, women in his life, etc.
