Sunday, 17th June, 4 pm – Polish House ‘Liberatura’ – an evening with IPS special guests, Zenon Fajfer and Katarzyna Bazarnik.
Liberatura is a new literary type, or genre, which integrates text and the material form of the book into a meaningful whole. The term comes from the word literature but draws from the Latin liber (book). Its major theoreticians and creators are Zenon Fajfer and Katarzyna Bazarnik whose activities initiated a whole literary movement. They will present their ideas about this kind of writing and show some liberature books.
There will be bilingual reading by Zenon Fajfer from his volume Ten Letters – Dwadziedzieścia jeden liter, followed by Q & A, and discussion.
Zenon Fajfer and Katarzyna Bazarnik are co-authors of books “Oka-leczenie” (2000-2009) and “(O)patrzenie” (2003).
Our Society ‘old’ members may remember Zenon and Katarzyna from “Zenkasi” drama group who performed for us “Finnegans Make” in June 1997.

Czy książkę można jedynie czytać? Is the book you just read? Jak się okazuje – nie tylko! As it turns out – not only! Można ją czuć, widzieć, dotykać, rozumieć na wiele sposobów czy odnajdywać ukryty w jej treści sens. You can feel, see, touch, understand that in many ways to find hidden meaning in its content.
Tę właśnie interakcję czytelnika z książką ukazali dziś w Domu Polskim w Dublinie Katarzyna Bazarnik oraz Zenon Fajfer. This is the reader’s interaction with the book appeared today in the Polish House in Dublin, Catherine, and Zenon Fajfer Bazarnik. Podczas prezentacji odczytywano fragmenty dzieł sekcji Liberatura w języku polskim oraz angielskim. During the presentation, read excerpts of works section liberature in Polish and English. Zaangażowano w to również publiczność. Also involved in this audience.

Liberatura to literatura w której forma książki (łac. – liber) jest integralnym składnikiem dzieła. Nie jest to neutralny pojemnik na tekst, który może być zmieniany z wydania na wydanie – mówi Zenon Fajfer, pisarz, wydawca i redaktor sekcji Liberatura korporacji Ha!art – Te książki z woli autora przybierają określony kształt – może przypominać to tradycyjną książkę, ale równie dobrze ta książka może daleko odejść od tych wyobrażeń, przełamywać konwencje. Liberature the literature in which the form of books (Latin – liber) is an integral part of the work. It is not a neutral container for text that can be changed from release to release – says Zenon Fajfer, writer, publisher and editor of the section liberature corporations Ha! Art – These books will of the author’s take on definite shape – may resemble a traditional book, but well, this book may be far away from these ideas, break conventions. Wyzwolona literatura, wyzwolona książka – razem tworzą jakąś nierozerwalną jedność. Trzeba było znaleźć adekwatny termin w którym byłby zawarty zrozumiały sygnał dla czytelnika, że są to przedmioty do czytania. Literature liberated, liberated the book – together they form some kind of indissoluble unity. Needed to find an adequate period in which the signal would be included for the reader to understand that these are the items to read.
Cechą tych książek jest to, że poza słowem przemawiają poprzez przestrzeń, formę, kształt, liczbę stron czy rodzaj papieru – choć nie musi być to wcale papier. A feature of these books is that they speak the word out through space, form, shape, number of pages and type of paper – but it need not be at all the paper. Inną cechą jest to, że wiele z nich zaprasza czytelnika do interakcji, współtworzenia, każe czytelnikowi odgrywać jakąś rolę. Another feature is that many of them invites the reader to interact, contribute, forces the reader to play a role.
Jak przyznaje Zenon Fajfer, koncepcja Liberatury była skutkiem pewnego namysłu nad książką „Oka-leczenie”, pisaną razem z Katarzyną Bazarnik. According to Zenon Fajfer, Liberatury concept was the result of a reflection on the book “Eye-care”, written together with Catherine Bazarnik. Książka ta daleko wykracza poza wyobrażenia, mając na myśli literaturę – ale nie przestaje tą literaturą być. This book goes far beyond imagination, referring to the literature – but the literature does not cease to be.
