DEATH OF THE GREAT IRISH POET, NOBEL PRIZE LAUREATE, SEAMUS HEANEY

The Irish Polish Society is deeply saddened to hear of the death of the great Irish poet, Nobel Prize Laureate, Seamus Heaney. Seamus Heaney was an Honorary Member of our Society for some years. He was very interested in Poland and particularly Polish poets (e.g. Miłosz, Herbert, Szymborska). He gave several lectures for the members of our Society. The Irish Polish Society will prepare special events dedicated to Seamus Heaney’s memory and his connection with Poland. Our deep sympathy goes to Semus’ wife, Marie, and children Michael, Christopher and Catherine.
